PNAA Summary of ANA-SNAPG Activities:

Geriatric Activities:
  • Geriatric Community outreach coordinated by Edita Reyes, RN, BSN . A Patient Education on Hypertension was held on June 1, 2006  from 10am-11am at  Olen Jones Senior Apartment Community in Rancho Cucamonga.This was accompanied by Blood Pressure Screening which was assisted by Star Home Health Resources, Inc. Every 1st Thursday of the month, Ms. Reyes will be speaking of any disease process common to the geriatrics population.

  • Health Fair/ Community Outreach Program on July 26 & 27, 2006  at Bob Hope Patriotic Hall, 1816 S. Figueroa St. Los Angeles, CA for Filipino Veterans in conjunction with honoring them at the 65th Anniversary of the US Armed Forces in the Far East(USAFFE).

     Published geriatric articles on the Philippine American Nurse Newsletters


  • Osteoporosis by Deovina N. Jordan, MSN, MPH, BSN, RN, BC (Spring/Summer 2006 Supplement, p.4)



Presentations/Workshops/Seminars:
  • Care of the Elderly will be presented on September 22/23, 2006 at the
         Marriott Waterfront Hotel, Baltimore, Maryland, 9th Eastern Regional
         Conference hosted by PNA Maryland and PNA Metropolitan Washington, DC.

Special Interest Groups:
  • The  PNAAF-NCA/ANA Grant Project and Geriatric Project Grant
        Steering Committee meeting will be held on June 28, 2006 from 4pm-6pm
        during the Annual PNAA national Convention at Boston Plaza Hotel to
        address issues concerning geriatric enhancing activities for the grant
        project.

Awards:
  • Jenice Guzman, APRN, BC is the recipient of the  2005 Philippine Nurses' Association of America Foundation (PNAAF) Fellow. Jenice Guzman, is a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner in the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare
        System in West Los Angeles and currently a 2nd year doctoral student at the
        UCLA School of Nursing.
